As a founding partner of Eye Associates of New York and the Center for Ophthalmic and Vision Research, Hanish Patel, OD, FAAO, is a trusted optometrist in the Midtown East, New York City area. Dr. Patel strives to offer complete eye care solutions to improve each patient’s eye health and overall vision.

After earning his undergraduate degree from Aston University in Birmingham, United Kingdom, Dr. Patel relocated to New York for graduate school. He earned his doctor of optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry.

Dr. Patel went on to complete a residency specializing in ocular disease through SUNY and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. During his residency, Dr. Patel received extensive training alongside prominent optometrists and ophthalmologists focusing on primary care, specialty contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management, and glaucoma and retinal disease care.

Working extensively with all types of contact lenses, Dr. Patel can find innovative types of contacts for patients who struggle with severe dry eye, ocular surface disease, and irregular corneal issues. Since Dr. Patel has so much experience and knowledge with contact lenses, he’s served as an investigator for over 75 contact lens-related studies.

To ensure he’s always up-to-date with eye care advancements, Dr. Patel maintains a professional membership as a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Patel is known for being extremely passionate about providing quality and compassionate care to his patients, so they have the best visual outcomes.

When Dr. Patel isn’t busy caring for patients in the clinic, he spends time serving his community and giving back as much as possible. He has donated his time and expertise to international optometric missions, caring for underserved patients in Peru and Nicaragua.
