COVID-19 UPDATE #2

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic Eye Associates of New York has been taking the utmost precautions to continue providing the highest standard of care to our patients in the safest environment possible. The latest recommendation of the CDC, the American Optometric Association, and the New York State Optometric Association is to “postpone all routine eye care”.

Therefore, effective today – March 18, 2020 – our office will be closed for all routine eye exams. We WILL be available for eye emergencies.

What does this mean?

Although our physical office will be closed, our staff will be available Mon through Fri from 9 am to 5 pm to answer questions, schedule telemedicine visits with the doctors, and place contact lens orders. You can reach us by email at office@ea-ny.com or phone and text message at 212-650-4888.

During the closure we have instituted the following policies:

- Emergencies: Our doctors are still available for infections, injuries, sudden vision changes, and other urgent issues for both new and established patients via Telehealth exams – utilizing Skype, Zoom, or other programs. Other more serious eye problems may warrant in-office examinations. Call into the office to have your concerns triaged appropriately. We will coordinate an action plan for you.

- Expired contact lens prescriptions: We will authorize a one time contact lens order for a 3-month supply for recently expired prescriptions to be ordered via our office only. All new orders will be shipped directly to you. Vision benefits may be utilized if available.

- Glasses or contact lenses awaiting pick-up: At this time our optical labs and suppliers continue to be open and are processing orders that have been placed. If you would like to pick up your glasses or contacts please reach out to us to arrange a time.

We know you understand the importance of everyone abiding by these precautions and we thank you for your patience during this interruption and very difficult time. Stay healthy and please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have.
